Tristan Jackson-Pate trained initially as an actor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He now produces work primarily for young audiences as a writer, director and composer. He is Artistic Director for the Award Winning Cherwell Theatre Company in Banbury, is an Associate Artist at Royal & Derngate and Birmingham Old Rep Theatres, and co-founder of the game theatre collective Butterfingers.

Tristan has written and directed five original family theatre pieces for Cherwell Theatre Company (Robin Hood, Cinderella, Treasure Island, Myth and Myth II: Heroes and Halfwits), a gig theatre piece co-produced with Royal & Derngate (Song of the Summer), a game theatre comedy inspired by the world of Dungeons & Dragons (Sam & Zoe Vs Evermore) and a film exploring the internet and social media (Do You Accept?), which has been screened to thousands of young people in UK schools, presented with interactive online drama workshops. Tristan has also produced many site specific works with young artists in venues as diverse as a decommissioned nuclear bunker, a supermarket car park and an open air swimming pool.

In 2023 Tristan wrote 'Exploded View', a short play co-created with young people in response to the epidemic of violence against women and girls. This formed part of CTC's 'Enact' project, funded by the Home Office, which examines cultures of misogyny across 8 secondary schools, encouraging students to enact the changes they want to see. In 2024 he wrote 'Story Seekers' a new storytelling play produced by Oxford Playhouse.

(Little Seeds Music) Suddenly a Star (Story Museum, Oxford), Pete Stays Home (Cherwell Theatre Company, UK Tour), Mr Stink (Heartbreak Productions, UK Tour) Robin Hood: A Musical Celebration (South Hill Park), The Wind in the Willows (Creation Theatre), The Fourth Dog (Human Story Theatre) and Holmes and Watson: The Farewell Tour (Edinburgh Fringe and UK Tour, David Adkin LTD).
